Keep laughing in 2010!!!

Yesterday, on my other blog http://www.highestandbest.com/ I wrote about George Carlin and  his advice about life.  The fact that I am going to try to maintain two blog sites may make my life more complicated...but it seems that it would be a good idea to try to keep my posts concerning real estate separate from my musings about life in general.  Let me know if that makes sense to you.

Tomorrow is the Eve of 2010 and I have a full schedule in planning.  First and foremost is my commitment to pull all my notes about my goals and gather them into one single bulleted document.  My plan is to make it bold, yet realistic.  The simple document will be posted in a prominant place to keep me from forgetting.

Any plans for the year will be a "Living Document".  In other words, it will be subject to constant revisions and amendments.  I will not use the 2010 goals as "resolutions" - sure to be broken.  Instead, they will be a roadmap to guide me toward the outcomes that serve me AND my clients who want to purchase or sell property.

New Beginnings...

A week from today it will be New Year's Eve and there will be much talk about "resolutions".  I'm not a big believer in making "New Year Resolutions".  My experience has been that the motivation to list things that I hope to improve in the coming year results in a list...a hopeful and often unrealistic list...that does not really result in the changes indicated by the words on the page.

Call me a rebel - You won't be the first - but I don't do my best work (on myself or on work for others) when I am doing it out of someone else's expectation. 

My best work - the kind of change that really impacts my life in a positive way - comes when life reveals a set of circumstances that can become a "learning moment"...not a "list-making moment".  It is so easy to find fault with the way I am now and list the things that would make me BETTER.  I even have to guard against too many lists in my professional life.  But I won't get into that in this post.

The most recent life improvement has been my life-altering decision to start working out about 6 weeks ago.  It is not the first time that I have joined a gym.  It is not the first time I have decided that I "needed" to work out.  But - it is the first time I have felt so certain that I will make working out a lifestyle.

It began when I started having a slight problem with my left knee.  When I walked up stairs, it felt like someone was plucking the tendon on the back of my knee in a similar fashion to playing the cello.  It was unpredictable, painful and a little frightening.

What was happening to me?
Was this new behavior of my body an indication that I was getting old (I celebrated my 59th birthday in October).
Was my body was deteriorating?
Would I join the long list of friends who have had knee replacement surgery???  UGH!!!
What action could I take to reverse the trend?

This blog will have more information about what I have discovered about my body during the last few weeks.  But the bottom line is my knee rarely has a "Pop and Strum" event like I had a few months ago anymore.  I have found a good solution and expect to discover many more.
